Medical emergency (draft)
A medical emergency is when someone is seriously hurt or ill — chest pain, trouble breathing, seizure, major fall, unresponsive person, severe bleeding, etc.
This is not the same as Code Red (evacuate) or Code Blue (lockdown). Arnold Alert horns announce campus-wide codes; most medical events are handled locally in the room or area where they happen.
What everyone can do now
Section titled “What everyone can do now”Until leadership finishes this playbook:
- Call 911 if life is at risk — do not wait for IC or elders.
- Send someone to the main entrance to meet EMS and guide them in.
- Clear space around the person; do not move them unless immediate danger (fire, collapse).
- Assign one calm person to stay with the patient; others step back.
- Do not use ext 9090 (Alert Line) as a substitute for 911.
- Do not trigger Code Red or Blue unless IC decides the whole campus must evacuate or lock down (e.g. hazmat, active threat tied to the event).
Tell IC and the office what happened as soon as practical — they handle crowd, parents, and whether a campus code is needed.

A campus code is only for building-wide response. A person collapsing in one classroom usually does not need horns.
